  • Only 20% of your cholesterol is derived from your diet. 80% is produced in the body. Cholesterol is the body’s first line defense systems and is produced because the body is stressed as it is a very strong antioxidant and is used to make the other protective hormones in the body. There have been many tests on rats that were given lethal doses of various toxins including heavy metals, poison, radiation etc and when they were given a large dose of cholesterol and every rat that had the doses of cholesterol survived, when they didn’t receive the cholesterol they all died.
  • Cholesterol is the thing that makes all of the steroid hormones (I.e. without it you can’t effectively make the life supporting protective hormones) things like pregnenolone, DHEA, testosterone etc which are extremely important for you so if you don’t produce enough cholesterol then a range of health problems are not far off.

Its important to realise that if you have high cholesterol levels that there is a very big difference in healthy fats and unhealthy fats.

Fats like coconut oil that speeds up the metabolism because it is a medium chain triglyceride whish is used for energy immediately after you digest it instead of being stored as fat to be used later for energy.

Coconut oil, preferably from an organic source is a lot better alternative than a damaging fat such as polyunsaturated or so called ‘Essential fatty acids’ like the ones found in fish oil or corn oil for example. These are the types of fats that damage the body and the blood vessels and cause a host of negative effects throughout the body.

It’s also important to realise that because 80% of cholesterol is produced in the body if you are doing things that stimulate the bodies production of cholesterol then that could potentially be a cause of high blood lipids.
